Throughout Big Idea we were told to create a final project that will take us the whole semester. However, throughout the semester we also have smaller "mini" units that only take us a few weeks and expand our skills in the innovation center. For this mini unit we were given information on how the school LMTC needs us to design and set up dividers and clamps in order to create privacy for students to study at a few of the tables that were put together. For my divider I wanted to have a more natural feeling and then for my clamp i wanted to have two, one for each side of the table, to hold up the divider. below are my sketches for both the divider and the Clamp.
Pre-Sketches
Inventor/Illustrator
Original Design
Final Clamp/Divider Design
3D Printer Process
Through the process of this I had to create two different models to get to my final design, the first model is in orange but I did not use because it was too thick and the hook didn't hook correctly. The second and final prototype is the one in blue and it did fit correctly which is why I used it.
All Together Standing
In the end of this unit I finished with a fully functional clamping system to hold the divider as well as a clean, natural divider design. Also, through out this unit I learned that you can use the innovation center in order to create things to help you with fixing your surroundings instead of going shopping and buying it for most likely a much steeper price.
